Workshop on Resource Conservation Issues Affecting Local Realtors

Pike County Conservation District and Wayne Conservation District will be hosting a workshop for local realtors. This workshop will teach the basic conservation issues that can affect someone buying a home in NEPA. Speakers from the conservation districts and guest speakers will cover information most applicable to new homebuyers in Pike and Wayne County. Realtors will learn how to answer basic questions related to conservation and permitting in a new home or piece of property.

The workshop is on March 5th, with a snow date on March 9th, at the Wallenpaupack Environmental Education Center, Hawley, PA. Coffee will be offered at registration and lunch will be provided. Registration begins at 8:00am and the program will conclude after lunch.

The workshop will begin with an overview of local watersheds and water systems. Then Pike County and Wayne Conservation District Resource Conservationists will speak on wetland and waterway encroachments and general permits, and earth disturbance, dams, and ponds. Topics will also include residential water resources, and forestry and agricultural concerns. Geologist Brain Oram from B.F. Environmental Consultants, Inc. and the Keystone Clean Water Team, soil scientist and geologist, will discuss on-lot septic system issues and private wells.

Reservations for “Resource Conservation Issues Affecting Local Realty” are requested by February 28th. To register, call Pike County Conservation District at 570-226-8220 or email pikecd@pikepa.org.
