Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC) honors its 13 dental assistants as vital team members who provide quality care across two dental offices – Together for Health Dental Center in Honesdale and the Pike Dental Center in Lords Valley. March 6 – 12th has been designated as Dental Assistants Recognition Week. This year’s theme, “Dental Assistants – Passionate About our Patients, Dedicated to Our Profession” resonates with WMCHC’s staff.
“The contribution dental assistants make is essential,” stated Nichole Yannone, dental office manager, WMCHC. “Our staff is proud of the work they do and patients are grateful for it.” Yannone further explained the responsibilities of a dental assistant include working chairside with the dentist, taking x-rays, infection control, sterilization, oral health education and at times comforting nervous patients. Those trained as Expanded Function Dental Assistants or EFDAs can also perform tasks such as filling teeth and applying both sealants and fluoride treatments.
WMCHC dental offices accept most insurance and offer a sliding fee scale based on income. For an appointment, call 570-251-6534 to be seen in Honesdale or 570-775-7818 for Lords Valley. Visit www.wmchc.net for more information.
